AN INGREDIENT LIST SHOULD NOT BE A COLLECTION
More ingredients can make a formula sound impressive. That does not automatically make it better. At CELLORA, we prefer a harder question: Why is it there?

FORMULATION BEGINS WITH PURPOSE
Every ingredient has a job. Some provide hydration. Some improve texture. Some condition the skin. Some protect the integrity of the formula. Some contribute to sensory experience. Others are selected because they complement the specific actives around them.
Even the ingredients consumers rarely discuss can be essential to creating a stable, elegant product. A formula is therefore not divided into “important ingredients” and everything else. It is a system.
GOOD FORMULATION REQUIRES RESTRAINT
There is a temptation in modern skincare to turn every product into an ingredient showcase. Ten peptides. Seven botanical extracts. Five acids. Three forms of something consumers just discovered last month.
Sometimes that makes sense. Often it does not.
Restraint allows important ingredients to remain important. It gives formulators room to consider concentration, stability, skin feel, compatibility, and the total experience of the finished product.
“BY DESIGN” IS MORE THAN A NAME
For us, By Design describes a way of thinking. Ingredients should not be included simply because they are fashionable. They should not be excluded simply because another brand has placed them on a “free-from” list.
We prefer evidence, formulation logic, safety, compatibility, and purpose. That is a more demanding standard than trend-based formulation because it requires every decision to be defensible.
When every ingredient has a reason to be there, the formula becomes more than a list. It becomes a design.
